Auto supplier Flex-N-Gate Corp. will invest $16.3 million to expand production at its Ventra plastics facility in Kentwood, Mich.

The expansion will cover its launch of an auto lighting product line and support future growth, said economic development officials from The Right Place Inc. in a Nov. 13 news release. Local and state economic development groups will provide $650,000 in incentives to help finance the project.

Ventra will buy and renovate an existing facility in Kentwood — previously home to baby products maker Sassy Inc. — and expects to employ 150 people there within three years. Construction will begin “immediately,” officials said.

Ventra is the plastics group of Flex-N-Gate, based in Urbana, Ill. It already operates three facilities near Kentwood in the neighboring city of Grand Rapids, Mich.
